AMC Header

AMC does not work independently but extensively with various networks -- migrant, labor, religious, and women's organization -- at grassroots, regional and international levels. AMC's core programs include:
Education, Networking and Advocacy
Together with our network groups, AMC advocates for human and labor rights of migrants at regional and national levels by:
  • organizing consciousness-raising and educational forums to empower migrant associations to advocate for migrants' rights;
  • facilitating local and regional lobbying to fully utilize national and international conventions/instruments to protect and advance rights and standards;
  • disseminating action alerts for quick international responses on urgent cases of violations of migrants' rights.

Reintegration and Migrants' Alternatives
This program helps migrants prepare for their return by promoting collective savings and building community projects and enterprises. The program's ultimate aim is to help migrants create forms of "alternative development." AMC provides:
  • education and training for migrants to organize their own savings groups and re-integration activities;
  • orientation and managerial skills training for group savings and alternative investment schemes for migrants;
  • linkages with country partners in their home country for investment and livelihood projects to support returned migrants' re-integration into their home communities.

Information, Research and Publication
In order to raise migrants' and public awareness on migrant issues, AMC regularly publishes:
  • the Asian Migrant Forum, a newsletter focusing on specific topics and news related to migration;
  • the Asian Migrant Yearbook, a yearly compendium of data and significant developments;
  • occasional publications such as proceedings of consultations, educational materials, practical guidebooks, research studies on the causes and extent of labor migration and gender aspects of migration.
