The Asia Migrant Centre was established in 1989 to address these problems and to help develop alternatives for migrant workers. AMC is committed to empowering migrants in the Asian region by:
  • popularizing, researching, and campaigning on migrant issues;
  • supporting political and social movements that advocate the protection of the rights of migrants and their families;
  • building and strengthening migrants' organizations, their support groups, and their regional and international networks;
  • working towards effective national and regional responses to migrants issues;
  • helping in migrants' re-integration upon return and developing alternatives to migration.

AMC believes that for migrants to address the root cause of labor migration, they must be politically empowered to challenge unsustainable national policies and development strategies. And they must be economically enabled to re-integrate into their home countries and help build local, regional and international alternatives to migration.
