Solidarity for the Protection of the Rights and Welfare of Migrant Workers

Forum Statement of the Conference on Migrant Labour Issues, Hsinchu, Taiwan, 15-19 May 1994
(Also adopted as Principles of Unity of the Migrant Forum in Asia)
We, the participants of the conference on "Living and Working Together with Migrant Workers in Asia," held on 15-19 May 1994 at Hsinchu Bible College in Taiwan, while reaffirming our commitment to stand in solidarity with the migrant workers both in the sending countries and in the receiving countries:

a) to demand that receiving and sending countries ratify and implement the 1990 International Convention on the Rights of All Migrant Workers and their Families; and,

b) to ensure that the issues of migrant workers are addressed at the forthcoming international events, such as the Beijing, Cairo and Denmark conferences;
