The Hong Kong Tourist Association
In mid 1995 Asia, Inc. Online was contracted to produce a World Wide Web site for
the Hong Kong Tourist Association, to act as a
resource and information centre for people planning to or interested in visiting
Hong Kong. As programmer I was responsible for all automated systems on the site,
which among simple search, form and imagemap capabilties include some unique features.
- The Wonder Of the Day, based
on a Hong Kong Tourist Association promotion, rotates through a series of attractions
highlighting the unique character of Hong Kong. The pages are generated from a database
file of attractions and links, making the program more efficient and the data easier
to maintain.
- The Interactive Tour Guide
consists of a databse of activities and tour items that a user can query by entering a
set of general criteria. The program returns any records (each contianing a brief
description and links to pages giving more detail) that match the criteria ranked by
how closely they match the criteria.
Since the site was completed and launched I have continued to work on systems for it,
most recently completing an online hotel booking system for the
Winter Wonders Hotels
promotion. Apart from my programming the site is no longer maintyained by Asia, Inc.
Online.
