King Baby

My name is Kaitong Ariel Yu. I was born on 2 July 1992 in Hong Kong.

I weighed only 4 lb 12 oz at birth but grew to a King Baby in three months weighing over 12 lbs.

Click my picture to get a full portrait of the "King Baby!"

Height Fear!

Daddy just measured me today (4/25/95), told me I'm 84.3cm tall at 2 years 10 months old (time flies!), and is more than half of Mommy's height already. I should grow to a future height of 5 ft 4 or 5 ft 6.

That seems to relieve Mommy a bit making her less worried about my being too short. (Actually Dad worries more than Mom does!) Mommy definitely doesn't want me to be shorter than she is.

I'll be three in July 1995, so I'm no longer a baby. I'm much bigger than the King Baby you've seen just then. But Dad and Mom say they haven't got the chance to scan my recent pictures. So please bear with me, all my friends who've sent mail asking for how I actually look behind my sweet voice.

[Kid's Space]

Kids' Space

Now if you are a CyberKid like me, you'd love to visit Kids' Space. With drawings, stories, songs and fun pages by and for KIDS! (I have my drawings and songs over there!) Visit other kids' homes and their families. Make new friends and enjoy!

Just go to Kids' Space Pen-Pal Box to choose a new pen-pal. And you can meet my friends, many of whom I've come to know through Kids' Space and who have also created their own home pages.

Kids' Space has received high commendations from Point Survey (the top 5% of all home pages!). Here's an excerpt from their review of Kids' Space:

This totally cool interactive site is home page to thousands of kids around the world. In the Kids' Gallery you can see artwork from Kaitong Ariel in Hong Kong (yes, that's me!) or Nicholas in New York ("Spaceships!"). Make new cyber friends online -- on our last visit, kids from Russia, Israel, and Italy were looking for pen pals (so were lots of American kids). Groove to music at the On Air Concert (I have my songs there too!), or read some flights of literary fancy at the Story Book .... Great fun!

Hey, I'm glad that I am part of Kids' Space and help making it a top favorite site for all kids. But first, stay on ... I know you're tempted to ... but just don't go off yet!

KidsNet

KidsNet is another place where children could go to play, learn, share, and be kids on the Internet. KidsNet would also help schools, classes on Internet projects.

Lately I've been writing (with Mom's help, of course) to a Grade 5 class from a school in California. The teacher's project is to get her students write to pen pals in different countries and learn about different cultures through the Internet. If you have a school project or if you need resource information for projects, be sure to check out KidsNet's Project's and Pal's.

My Favorite Cartoons and Movies

My favorites include My Neighbour Totoro, Thomas the Tank Engine, Pingu, E.T., Yo-Yo Ma at Tanglewood, Fantasia with Mickey as the Sorceror's Apprentice, Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and of course The Little Mermaid (who has the same name as mine). I also enjoyed seeing Disney's new movie Pocahontas in the summer of 1995.

Take a peek at my favorite images from the movies!

Here's the quick link to Pocahontas, which just won fresh Oscars at the 68th Academy Awards on March 25. Congratulations!

Quiz Show

[Gump on the Bench] Now who is this guy sitting on the park bench?

Yes, you're right. This is the now world-famous Forrest Gump after the 67th Oscar presentations on 27 March, 1995.

My grandma enjoyed watching the movie so much that she had wanted Forrest Gump to make a clean sweep at the Oscars. Forrest Gump got 6 awards out of 13 nominations, the most a movie has won in a year since 1987. Not bad after all.

Here's the theme from the movie (1.2M .au) nicely arranged by Mr Tim Kwan, music major, Class of '95 at MIT (tkwan@mit.edu).

Grandma and Grandpa are fans of Forrest Gump alright. I have yet to tell them that Gump has now gone on to lead an Apollo 13 mission to the moon and courageously overcome dangers to return home safely. (Grandma and Grandpa had a car accident on 2 August and were injured. They have now recovered. As soon as Grandpa is through with his leg physiotherapy program, I'm going to take them to the new movie. I'm sure they will love the music in Apollo 13 too.) Congratulations to Apollo 13 which won the 68th Oscars in Editing and Sound.
