Believe in Virtues or Believe in Miracles/Might

If we listen to Jesus' teachings (Sermon on the Mount, [Matthew Chapters 5-7]), and do them everyday, we are unlikely to fall,

Jesus : Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it. [Mt 7:24-27]

Jesus taught us eternal virtues : meek, pure in heart, merciful, peace-making, obedient to LORD's teachings, forgiving, chastity (no adultery), honesty, humility, graciousness, serve LORD and not money, judge not, do to others what we wish others to do to us, love these virtues more than our life, bear the cross to follow him everyday, ...

LORD taught us to think about His name : merciful, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, forgiving, jealous against evil/iniquity.

Now, some questions to think about :

1. Suppose Jesus did no miracles, would you still believe in him and do his teachings ?
   
   
2. Suppose someone comes to you, who is able to perform mighty miracles, and his face shines brilliantly as the sun, and has great power, but does not preach the above virtues, will you obey him as the Almighty and follow him ?
   
   

Lord Jesus taught us to beware of miracles/might in [Revelation],

John : Then I saw another beast which rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It works great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of men; and by the signs which it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast, it deceives those who dwell on earth, bidding them make an image for the beast which was wounded by the sword and yet lived; and it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast so that the image of the beast should even speak, and to cause those who will not worship the image of the beast to be slain. [Rev 13:11-15]
