, a Chinese female scholar who had emigrated to USAYesterday (27/3/2001), I heard from TV that a spokeman in Beijing accused
of being a Taiwanese spy. She and her husband and her son where arrested
when they visited China during the Chinese New Year.
I immediately thought of a book I have previously read, "LIFE AND DEATH IN SHANGHAI , by Nien Cheng". The author detailed her experience of being accused of spying during the Cultural Revolution. That book provides tremendous insight into "accusation of spying", and should be read by all who are social-minded.
