LOVE ENOUGH ? NO COMMANDMENTS NEEDED ?

Imagine an isolated island. The people there only know of LOVE.

Everyone of us knows LOVE : the feeling towards our childhood friends when young, the feeling towards our children, the feeling towards our marriage partner, the feeling towards lovely animals or kids, ....

Do you think LOVE alone can stop the following behaviour :

1. "Free Love" preached by the Nicolaitans [Rev 2:6]. In other words, they may freely have sex. They may think "because of love towards one another", they should do that.
   
   
2. "Consented Love" practiced by communists. Members of secret communist party, if both parties agree, may freely have sex. In reality, as the communists have to obey "leadership" from above, i.e. some sort of authority, a girl would usually dare not refuse request of sex from "seniors".
   
   
3. Adultery practiced by Mormons in the name of "principle of celestial marriage". Exchange of wives. Having wives up to 19. Marrying a woman and her daughter. Marrying one's daughter. Marry and then divorce and then re-marry. Those early Mormons who exchanged wives surely had "love" towards one another, or else they wouldn't have consented to the exchange of wives (or their wives consented to being exchanged) !
   
   
4. "They-Us Precept" - people in Secret Combination (Secret Alliance) have love towards their comrades, they will shelter their comrades even they have broken Laws, including murders, and they would kill the outsiders if they threaten their comrade' life (even policeman, judge, persecutor who enforce law). LORD's teachings of "One Law for All" is totally forgotten, or they have no laws at all, except "unconditional love towards comrades".
   
   
5. Serbia people killing Kosovo people, Kosovo people killing Serbia people (love of fellow country men). Israelites killing people of Palestine, and people of Palestine killing Israelites. (LORD : One Law for All)
   
   

LOVE alone cannot stop those behaviour. Or rather, it MAY EVEN ENCOURAGE those behaviour ! All crimes may be committed in the name of "love", or "love of one's country".

LORD : You shall not kill. [Ex 20:13] LORD : You shall not commit adultery. [Ex 20:14] LORD : consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD your GOD. Keep my statutes, and do them; I am the LORD who sanctify you. [Lev 20:7-8] LORD : You shall be holy; for I the LORD your GOD am holy [Lev 19:2] Jesus : whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another, commits adultery. [Mt 19:9] Jesus : Whoever divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery. [Mk 10:11-12] Jesus : Every one who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery. [Luke 16:18] [Malachi 2:13-16] And this again you do. You cover the LORD's altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favour at your hand. You ask, "Why does he not?" Because the LORD was witness to the covenant between you and the wife your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. Has not the one GOD made and sustained for us the spirit of life? And what does he desire ? Godly offspring. So take heed to yourselves, and let none be faithless to the wife of his youth. "For I hate divorce, says the LORD the GOD of Israel, and covering one's garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. So take heed to yourselves and do not be faithless.' [Malachi 2:13-16] LORD (when He created Eve for Adam) : It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him. [Gen 2:18] (Note : a wife should help her husband, much like a secretary who helps her boss.) Jesus : Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one'? So they are no longer two but one. What therefore GOD has joined together, let no man put asunder.' [Mt 19:4-6] LORD : You shall not oppress a stranger; you know the heart of a stranger, for you (i.e. the Israelites) were strangers in the land of Egypt. [Ex. 23:9] The stranger who sojourns with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself. [Lev. 19:34] There shall be one law for the native and for the stranger who sojourns among you. [Ex. 12:49]

(Note : From LORD's word : "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." [Gen 2:18], we know that wife should help her husband, much like a secretary who helps her boss.

Also, marriage is a sacred, voluntary, union of a man and woman, (LORD to the daughters of Zelophehad: "Let them marry whom they think best; .. " [Num 36:6-9]).

Husband should love his wife, and wife should love her husband, and they together should love their children. They should not divorce, which will set a very bad example to their children, and may even ruin their future.

Unfaithfulness can cause extreme grief and sorrow to wife, who so willingly submits to the husband to be a helper. Infidelity can cause great jealousy and sorrow to husband too. Remember O. J. Simpson ?)

Although the Chinese did not have Jesus' teachings nor LORD's Law and Commandments, they have Confucius' - truthfulness and faithfulness towards family members (including wife, husband, parents, children, colleagues, relatives) and friends. The moral rules of conduct of Japanese also originated from Confucius.

Therefore we should have Laws and Commandments of LORD, but we should not enforce them like the Pharisees (accused Jesus of healing a person on Sabbath - time for rest and no work), but like LORD, full of mercy (David, when he escaped from Saul, was hungry and asked a priest for bread. The priest had no bread except bread offered to LORD, and he gave them to David. The Law says priest should not give/profane holy things to outsider, yet LORD did not regard either David nor the priest to have broken the Law [Mt 12:3-7]).
