Joining is easy!Ideally, you should already be a qualified diver (through BSAC, PADI, NAUI or other recognised training agency) who is fit to dive (if in doubt see the Medical Certificate found here).
However, we are always keen to welcome members who are new to diving. If this is you, then please email our Diving Officer for more information.
Then, if you wish to join by post, send your membership subscription fee (cheques only) and completed application form to: HKUC, BSAC Special Branch 593, GPO 4232, Hong Kong. Cheques should be made payable to 'Hong Kong Underwater Club'. You can download the application form to print out by clicking here. For our current subscription fees, please see below.
Alternatively, you can simply join us on a dive trip or at a social event and do all the paperwork then. You will need to show us your diving certification before your first dive with us.
For full details of the Club's rules our constitution can be found here.

You will need to contact the dive marshal for the day (shown on the dive schedule) and let them know that you want to come and what kit you will need. Each dive trip is usually announced by e-mail about 1 week before the date.
All you have to do on the day is get to the pier on time and bring your diving gear (if you don't have any gear then the dive marshal can arrange rental of gear if given 3 days advance notice). If you want to reduce travel costs it may be possible to share a mini-van from Hong Kong Island with other people joining the trip - just let the dive marshal know if this would help you and they will see if they can put you in touch with other people who also want to share a ride.
Dive trips leave from a variety of places around Hong Kong and the New Territories so check with the dive marshal where the trip is going from.
Some of the regular departure points include:
Dive trips normally depart at 9:00 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. and return between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please confirm the times with the dive marshal for each trip as they do change depending on the departure point.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE A NOT-FOR-PROFIT CLUB, SO IF THE BOAT IS FULL AND YOU HAVE BOOKED A PLACE AND EQUIPMENT BUT DO NOT THEN SHOW UP, YOU MAY BE CHARGED A FULL BOAT FEE IN ADDITION TO THE KIT COSTS. THIS IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DIVE MARSHAL.
