Social Secretary's Report - 2005

I shall be brief on this one as I am sure we are all too aware of the social happenings of 2004 in relation to the 50th anniversary. Many thanks to Irene, Jo, and Ron who helped to organise the two major events, the cocktail party in May and the Underwater Ball in September. Both events were memorable; being very well organised ensuring that all whom attended had a really good time. A lot of time and effort was put into both of these events in order to ensure that they were successful. I would also like to thank all the sponsors who contributed prizes for the draw at the ball.

The other event we did in conjunction with the 50th anniversary was getting dressed at the HK sevens. This was a lot of fun and we even managed to be featured on the big screen a couple of times.

The Surface Interval continues to thrive. This is a great opportunity for people to mingle within the club in a relaxed pub atmosphere. It is a very casual affair and I think it fits well with the whole ethics of the club. I hope that it will continue over the next year.

Other events that have been organised include attending concerts done by the Kassia Women's Choir, getting into Abba mode with Mama Mia, and going to the Omnimax theatre when there are diving related shows on. Unfortunately I didn't get my act together on the bowling nights - maybe that is something the future social secretary may consider arranging.

Finally I would like to say thank you to everyone for allowing me to organise all the social events. I have been in my element really!!! Sadly I will have to step down as social secretary as it looks like I will be heading for a change in lifestyle and work somewhere down under (maybe)!!

I hope the club continues to thrive over the next year. There is plenty to build on from 2004.
